Always concerning for the manager when the opposition is bottom of the league and the lads are discussing how many goals they had conceded so far this season prior to the game. Therefore it’s the responsibility of the management to ensure the team are focused and approach the game in the right manner so not to be over confident. Therefore after a very flat first half and an OG from Jack Parr, thus going in a half time 1-0, it clearly hadn’t worked. This was a key moment in the season already, as we could not afford to allow a major gap to form between ourselves and the teams at the top. This resulted in some strong words during the half time talk, including an uncharacteristic outburst from knowlesy and a change in Jubb being brought on. The 2nd half was fantastic. The lads hunted in packs and really went after the game. Excellent performances all over the pitch in the 2nd half, but of note from McNulty, Jubb and yet again a brilliant game from smithy which is now becoming the expected, no matter playing at centre half or midfield. The goals started to fly in, A hat trick from lebo, 1x for valentine who was a threat all 2nd half, 2x from Avi and some pride back for Jack Parr with a goal. Their manager came on and started flying in a bit and also started handbags with Will Parry, who stood up for himself and then reacted in the perfect way by scoring the 8th for Mellor. Some really naughty football from Mellor and a deserved win.
