Mellor Thirds 6-1 Hargreaves Firsts
Match report provided by Third Team Manager Adam Axford:
After a fantastic cup win we went into the game v Hargreaves full of confidence and hoping to secure three points against a team struggling in Division A.
The lads looked up for it and we were on the front foot from the first whistle. It took just 11 minutes to break the deadlock, James Langshaw bursting forward from Right Back and scoring his first Mellor goal with a tidy finish after playing a neat 1-2 into the box. Goals followed quickly after, Chris Barlow on 13, Ryan Compson on 17 and Rick Axford on 19 which saw use race into a 4-0 lead inside 20 mins. Nick Entwistle rounded up the half on 45 mins with a goal of his own.
Rick Axford added another goal in the second half and Hargreaves grabbed a consolation.
It should have been more, we could have easily hit double figures (for the second time this season) but we just didn't make the most of our chances second half.
