It was an important game for us following our awful performance against Newton in our previous fixture, which finished us losing 0-1. The opposition started well and it was clear why they are doing so well in their respective division, especially as they were a tall physical side. We had to battle hard all over the pitch, which started to churn up a little so not exactly the kind of playing surface which suits our style of flowing football. They had some good chances early in the game including a one on one, which were squandered. Smithy also had to come off with a back injury just about 15-20mins into the game, with valentine coming on and bass moving into the middle. We coped with the change well and began to get a foot hold in the game. We then scored with a lovely football move down the right side, when the ball was back heeled inside by JV and Bassey playing the ball back to Jubb for the shot/cross into the 6 yard box where Jerome finished with a classy Cryuff flick. We played some really good football in the second half and Greeny didn’t have a great deal to do. Our back 4 were good and Jamie got MOM with a solid display. It was a committed performance from all the team including Porter and Knowles who came on from the bench and fantastic hard fought victory following last weeks loss to newton, finishing the game 0—1 to progress into the semi final of the cup.
