Moston Brook Seconds 1-4 Mellor Seconds
Match report provided by Second Team Manager Rob White:
We got off to a great start, scoring in the first 5-10mins of the game. A ball knocked forward by Mark Oldham and hesitancy between Moston’s keeper and centre back, and Avi nipped in and put the ball in the bottom corner. Moston played very well and loaded the midfield with 5 and had a good 15minites spell in the first half without really troubling Greeny in goal. We stayed in control of the game and Lebo scored the 2nd and 3rd goals of the game in the second half, the later being a follow up slide finish on the line following up as all good forwards do. We could have scored another 2-3 golas in the game and so many nearly passes were cut out. We dominated the game from start to finish really and with 10mins left captain Jamie Longson scored a bullet header from a corner to make it 4-0. We made four substitutions in the second half, and with 2mins left of the game we switched off on the right hand side of the box when a ball was crossed from our left and Moston scored a consolation goal to finish 4-1. Quite a good game in all, even though we were never really in danger. We looked solid across the back 5 incl our keeper, which was great considering Greeny hurt his ankle in the warm up. Lebo was fantastic and his effort was first class as always, Smithy was solid in the middle with Parr the marauder. We now have the final in the bag to look forward to and we can focus on the the last 5 league games.
