South Manchester Seconds 4-5 Mellor Seconds
Match report provided by Second Team Manager Rob White:
The opposition scored within the first 5 minutes but we responded with a well worked goal with the forward lads getting us back on level terms within 5 minutes. Our goal calmed us down and we went onto to score another 3 going into a 4-1 lead. We were fairly in control and could of scored a couple more. Perhaps due to the stage of the season and what is at stake, but we looked slightly nervous when the opposition were in attack and without being under any real pressure we conceded a further 3 goals to make it 4-4. We made a final sub bringing mike white on up front with less than 10mins to play. He made an impact quite quickly linking up with jubb and also dragging a shot from outside the box that lebo should of really slid into the net. However the ref advised 30 seconds of added time was left and south Manchester were on the attack, me and Al looked at each other in disbelief at throwing the win away, when we turned the ball over and went on the final attack. The ball was put into the box but got blocked and went wide towards the corner flag. Mike white didn’t give it up and when everybody through themselves into the box, Avi dropped off to the edge and Mike cut the ball back and picked out Avi, even though everyone screamed at him to shoot, he was the calmest on the pitch, fainted to shoot, dragged the ball inside and then stuck the ball low into the net to make it 4-5 for the win. One of the most dramatic finishes to a game all season and showed our metal to get the win and keep the season on track. Mike got MOM.
